Nita Kibble Literary Award

Following on from the discussion regarding the 2008 Nita Kibble Literary Award featured here over the past few days, I decided it was a good idea to create a Wikipedia page devoted to the award. The trouble is I can't find some of the information. For example, I have no idea who won the award in 2000. And no searching anywhere on the web seems to provide the answer.

So I'm throwing it over to you. Any thoughts on who won in 2000? Have I missed anything on the page I've created? I know I must have, I just don't know what.

No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency city!

Ahem. Drusilla Modjeska's Stravinsky's Lunch was published in 1999 and is listed as having won the Kibble Award without specifying a year, but that would almost certainly have to be it. I'll keep creatively Googling and see if I can find a definitive confirmation.

Yep, Stravinsky's Lunch confirmed as the winner for 2000. Which means the listing of her as shortlisted for 1999 is what led you astray.

Confusion often arises about publication dates -- books almost never win prizes in the same year they were published, and prizes have all sorts of different catchment periods -- and not all prizes are annual. Some books are still winning prizes three or even four years after they were published.

As I should have said right at the beginning, Perry, what a tireless worker in the Aust Lit vineyard you are. And what useful work you do.

Thank you. I'll fix that today.

As to working in the vineyard, I'm just picking the low hanging fruit. Sometimes I wish I was just working in a real vineyard. I might get out more.
