Letter by CJD to J.G. Roberts 1918.09.21

September 21 1918

Dear Dad,

I have only just heard of your cruel misfortune through a letter from Bob. I missed the announcement in the papers.

I know a man usually dislikes receiving letters of this sort, so long as he knows, at least, that his friends do not forget.

I have been shocked and sincerely grieved, and I write now merely to let you [know] that you and Mother and the rest have my deep sympathy. Please tell them.

This letter was written after Dennis heard the news of Frank Roberts's death. Frank was the son of J.G. Roberts.
"Bob" is R.H. Croll.
