C.J. Dennis Associated Material

Note re Dennis by J.G. Roberts

I met him at Toolangi in 1906. Invited him to stay with my son Frank (Francis William Roberts) at "Sunnyside" South Sassafras (in 1914) where he stayed six months and where the balance of "The Sentimental Bloke" was written, afterwards dedicated to Mr and Mrs J.G. Roberts (Berta and myself).

Attached to a hand-written extract from "Who's Who In Australia" 1922.

J.G. Roberts Collection, MS8508, Book 14 - State Library of Victoria

Note:
Roberts states above that Dennis went to stay at Sunnyside in 1914. But Ian McLaren states, in his article about Dennis and the Roberts family, that the date was actually October 1913.
