R.H. Croll

R. H. (Robert Henderson) Croll was born in Stawell, Victoria in 1869. He undertook a long career in the Victorian Education Department and maintained a lifelong interest in things literary and artistic. This combined with his love of bushwalking brought him into contact with C.J. Dennis near the poet's home in Toolangi. Details of their first meeting and subsequent friendship are provided in Croll's work "The Laureate of the Larrikin". Over the years Croll contributed a number of pieces of verse and prose to various Australian newspapers and produced a number of books. He died in 1947.
